Killing One By One
(self-financed)

This record for sure is a curiosity I am tempted to state here. Well, first of all the cover artwork struck me as being not only a bit odd, but also kind of awkward and... I dunno... maybe a bit ridiculous. I presume it's supposed to look avantgarde. This is an oil painting I assume... most likely something that was accomplished manually and doesn't catch my eye at all. The motive is a demonic creature arising from a gloomy lake or something. Whooo... I am scared to death. Anyway... but that is just the packaging. Then the band's name... it kind of reminds me of a term often referred to with regard to digestion processes. Enough! I don't want to dis these guys all the time now because beside these points, the material, which is of interest here, does convince me indeed. VILGEFORTZ play technical, quite fast, malign Death Metal. Let's quickly switch through the single components: the vocalist reminds me of this Broken Hope lunatic... so that means breathless vocal-lines that are ultra-deep and brutal like hell... that's the way I like it, baby! The guitars sound... and this just concerns the sound... like Eucharist I think, a bit more dense though. The lines they play are cool, technical and various stuff. The drums play patterns that support the arrangements so that one doesn't get lost, which is a cool thing to do. Some blasting sequences here and there... just right! The bassist generally does a supportive job, too and makes everything sound direct and aggressive! I like this release, that's for sure. Hey guys, don't mind my little diversion above concerning the cover artwork and bandname, hahaha... that's just points that I deem utterly important because such elements present a band in the first place. My favourite song on "Killing One By One" is the second track 'Deadmarch Of Unfulfilled Illusion'... it's got some killer slam-parts in it, magnificent soloing as well! This band should be taken notice of 'cause these guys are ambitioned and talented. Like that...! Contact: http://republika.pl/vilgefortz_band, vilgefortz.band@wp.pl
