Into Abeyance

VISONARY666 might be a new name, but the players are seasoned veterans of the Dutch Metal Scene, who've plied their trade in such bands as THE MONOLITH DEATHCULT, KORPSE and ALTAR. "Into Abeyance" is their debut album and the intention here is clear - to pummel your guts into oblivion by pure devastating brutal Death Metal. Still it's not mindless brutality for its sake, the songs have enough melodies to keep you interested, but the main ingredient served here is unadulterated aggression in form of low guttural vocals and catchy riffs. The guitars really do sound crushing yet very clear. It can't be said the same for the drums, though, don't know what happened here, but they definitely lack some bowel rumbling punch and come across a bit transparent. And that's a shame, because the drummer is fuckin' solid here, they could've used this much more to their advantage. Apart from that there's nothing else to complain about, with each new listen there's something to discover and the intensity level never lets you down, even the slower, mid-tempo parts demand serious headbanging. If you are growing tired of all Swedish Death Metal clones, VISIONARY666 will come across as a breath of rotten air, it's brutal but melodic, rather straightforward but also technically flawless and got that hellish fire burning underneath that makes you want to smash shit up and let that pent up aggression out!
