CREEPING plays Swamp / Black Metal exclusively. Honestly I don’t have a clue what the biography would like to tell us with that description, but at least it doesn’t seem like the guys here are taking everything so dead serious. Besides calling themselves Swamp / Black Metal the biography describes this band “almost as Black’n’Roll” which I think is the far more suitable choice. CREEPING is a pretty new outfit rising from New Zealand and telling us with their “Funeral Crawl” CD that less is often more. So what we get here is a combination of different music styles taking influences from Doom, Stoner, Thrash and Black Metal and “Funeral Crawl” is if at all comparable to the newest DARKTHRONE release. CREEPING play outstanding Black Metal with a lot of heart, passion and originality. I was really impressed when I engaged myself with this release as especially in the Black Metal genre improvements are so hard to find and it makes me smile listening to some Blues elements in the last track ‘The Abyss… The Swamp’ and surprisingly noticing that this works just perfect here, just perfect for Black Metal, haha. Well, I’m not really sure if this review stimulated your interest in purchasing a copy of it, but I hope it did as this is one of the most outstanding Black Metal releases I have heard since a long time and I wish that CREEPING succeed with their brand of Metal. Give them a try and support them with buying this amazing CD. Check out the labelsite www.asphyxiaterecordings.com or www.metribution.com as they carry this release in their onlineshop, too!
