CURSUS BELLUM
Accusing The Dead

CURSUS BELLUM is a pretty new Death Metal band from Malmö in Sweden, the EP “Accusing The Dead” that’s running on my stereo right now is their first offering. And if you think that the keywords “Death Metal” and “Sweden” are sufficient to describe that EP, you’re barking up the wrong tree. CURSUS BELLUM are by no means the band you’re expecting! The sound of the band is not really typical for their home country, instead, the duo is hugely influenced by the brutal and technical Death Metal bands from the US of A. From the first riffs of ‘Engineering The Apocalypse’, CURSUS BELLUM show that they are not the ones who take prisoners. Their way is definitely the way of total annihilation at any sacrifice. Brutality prevails, spiced with technical aspirations, blackened melody lines and sometimes even slightly modern guitar breakdowns. But blending styles and ideas in this case doesn’t mean that the songs aren’t fluent. Even demanding songs like the title track ‘Accusing The Dead’ or the final, rather long ‘Defiance In Ashes’ are, well, not really easy listening, but fine stuff and thankfully not torn to pieces. This is a debuting offering that will for sure please a lot of maniacs out there. They are welcome to check out www.facebook.com/cursus-bellum-1640244082896912 or http://cursusbellum.bandcamp.com.
