“Kenose” is the new effort by this real unique horde hailing from France. DEATHSPELL OMEGA are not your typical standard Black Metal band. They are far beyond, in a world many bands will not reach. If you want you can call this one here an innovative blackened album. The three extremely long tracks offer so many details and stuff which you aren’t able to conceive by just listening once. You need more time to discover all the great things which happen there. The drums constantly change and deliver a wide range of grooves, beats and rhythms. The guitars offer brilliant riffs. You get doomy and droney chords here as well as riffs more in an old school, thrashy department. And even some parts have a kind of progessive touch / approach. The music creates an extremely evil atmosphere. The album is very dynamic and you can’t predict what happens next. The sound quality is excellent but never overproduced and keeps a raw feeling up. To sum it up here: “Kenose” is a very sophisticated and outstanding album which should be checked out by true dark warriors with a sense for high quality stuff and dense atmosphere.
