AMONGST THE DECEIT
AMONGST THE DECEIT
Tribulations Of Man
(Show No Mercy Records)
38:02min

Some of you out there might remember that our Austrian neighbours had a couple of quite outstanding & unique Death Metal acts in the beginning of the 90s. Every true extreme Metal lunatic should be aware of hordes like PUNGENT STENCH, MIASMA or DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. Now more than two decades later it's great to see that things are moving again there and bands like AMONGST THE DECEIT continue the tradtition what Austrian Death Metal is all about. Their highly explosive, relentless and brutal effort "Tribulations Of Man" should please everybody being fond of the genre. It seems to be quite easy for this outfit to combine both schools, mostly the new one and a little piece of the old, to an intense and interesting mix of steel. Though the material has a high technical edge it is not that typical kind of guitar wanking stuff which makes you frustrating - not at all! That's because each member has skilled craftmanship and the priority is that each track works and not to fulfill just the ego. There are plenty of crispy, chugging riffs - precise like a laser scalpel and refined with many cool leads. The blasting, doublebass supported (mostly) fast forward drums (which were done by a session member) also don't take any prisoners. Even there's an emphasis on brutality these newcomers manage to create quite variable tunes with solid breaks and tempo changes - and everything without losing the heaviness. You also get your lethal dose of guttural vokills here but they are very enjoyable to listen to and not that fog noise type of style (which is sometimes a big problem with a lot of bands in that musical direction). Tracks like 'Inferior Lives', the great 'Dead With Open Eyes' or 'Dark Sience' make a lot of fun if you enjoy (technical) brutal music. The regular eight songs are enhenced by two live bonus video clips. Besides the legendary Black / Deathers BELPGHEGOR this newcomer can be considered as one of the leading forces in the Austrian underground. In case you like to get this solid and impressive debut "Tribulations Of Man" then you should not hesitate to check out the label's website www.shownomercyrecords.com or just get in touch with the band directly at www.amongstthedeceit.com.
