CRYPTIC WANDERINGS / IN THE SHADES
CRYPTIC WANDERINGS / IN THE SHADES
Split
(Negra Nit Distro)

Two rather unknown Black Metal bands do the honours for a joint effort, a vinyl split 7” in this case with one song from each band. CRYPTIC WANDERINGS from Zaragoza, Spain formed out of the ashes of AMNION, taking the name of this band's only album as their band name. For them, it's their first release and 'The Black Scaffolds Of The Hangman' the first song the world might hear of them. But the question remains, if the world really needs this song? There is enough chaotic Black Metal with a lo-fi production and a lack of inspiration... On the other side of the 7”, IN THE SHADES, also from Spain, have a lot more to offer. This band already released a demo, “A Journey Of No Return”, last year. 'Place Of Penance' is pretty atmospheric, nevertheless rather simple and pure Black Metal with enough tension not to drown in randomness. Of course you can hear the influence of the old Scandinavian forefathers of the genre, but these influences are worked up well to a fine Black Metal song. So, it's thumbs up for IN THE SHADES and way to go for CRYPTIC WANDERINGS. To find out more, go to http://negranit.paura.cat or http://nebularcarcoma.blogspot.com.es/2014/11/distro.html
