DISCIPLES OF POWER
DISCIPLES OF POWER
Ominous Prophecy
(Vic Records)
47:38min

DISCIPLES OF POWER released five full-lengths so far and "Ominous Prophecy" is their second album, originally released 1992. Vic Records are responsible for this re-issue, the material was re-mastered and the new booklet contains rare pics and flyers. Which brings us straight to the first point of criticism. The sound volume changes during the playing time at least two times. Every time the music suddenly got a bit louder I was startled up. Maybe the fluctuation of the volume was done on purpose to avoid the listener falling asleep. Seriously now, the album has some good moments of technical Death / Thrash Metal, but my overall impression is that the band is not really knowing which direction to take. More Death, more Thrash, more technical, more Hardcore influences? Listening to this album is like listening to a work in progress. Maybe a harsh verdict, but the material is on a level with rehearsal room material. If you are a follower of the band or in general a fan of technical Thrash / Death Metal and collecting all and everything then you are the proper person for this release.
