EURYNOMOS
EURYNOMOS
Fierce Alliance
(Iron Pegasus Records)
14:06min

Eurynomos, a daemon of Hades, that eats the flesh of corpses, leaving only the bones... Or with a little different spelling a legend of Black Metal, the one and only Øystein Aarseth who haunted with his guitar riffs and melodies together with MAYHEM, back in the day, and now an unholy German alliance between Aethon and Okkulto, yes that Okkulto that made menace with DESASTER, until 2001 when he retired from music. A true shame as he has one of the best raw vocals, that ever have wrecked havoc in Black and Thrash Metal. Though one of his comrades, Aethon that is, in the Hellbangers Moselfranken Heavy Metal Club, wrote some tunes that re-ignited the spirit, and now we have the third installment of EURYNOMOS' 7" rippers, first "Unchained From The Crypt", then "Eye Of The Pantheon" and the new EP "Fierce Alliance". Musically we are in for an old school treat, the classic treats from Heavy Metal, just a hell of a lot rawer, with a thrashy nerve and a depth and heaviness of the first Black Metal bands, do I have to mention a certain English band from Newcastle or a Swiss band from Nürensdorf and its predecessor. Grim, raw and head on intensity, and almost too much great guitarwork, catchy and classic riffing with a great guitartone, and some good ripping solos with an edge. And the vocals, if you already know Okkulto's work from his days in DESASTER, I don't really have to say more. Think "Stormbringer" just much more intense! The 9 tracks the band so far have released are quite enjoyable and kick ass, more of that please. A fresh breath of thrashy Heavy Metal with heart and soul, and an enormous kick ass factor!
