HEIMDALLS WACHT
HEIMDALLS WACHT
Ut De Graute Olle Tied (Deel II) – Land Der Nebel
(Black Skull Records)
61:41min

Pagan Black Metal is a musical genre that's overfilled with boring bands. HEIMDALLS WACHT from the German area of Westphalia are one of them. “Ut De Graute Olle Tied (Deel II) - Land Der Nebel” is the sixth record of the band, the second part of their album from 2008. It features seven mostly very long tracks and an acoustic intro. And this intro 'Indiculus Paganiarum' is the best this album has to offer. Enough said? Well, I think I should explain why this album is lousy. From the first notes of the extra long 'Die Fallenden Blätter Der Irminsul', HEIMDALLS WACHT wallow in powerless Black Metal and uninspired folkish Pagan moments. And some of the clear vocal parts makes this brew even more painful, close to second hand embarrassment. Talking about “second hand”, I need to mention that some of the guitar riffs are so hackneyed, it isn't funny any more. The longer I listened to this album, the more I had to fight the urge to skip the end of the songs. But I was brave, just to find out that the final 'Des Wolfes Zottiges Fell' is half a ballad or at least an attempt to write one. Honestly, it's albums like this that make me seriously consider skeet shooting as a new hobby of mine. Undeterred might check: www.heimdallswacht.de, www.blackskullrecords.de
