HELFAHRT
HELFAHRT
Wiedergang
(Trollzorn)
49:04min

It's more or less a fact that within the last couple of years a lot of very good, means very unique German Black Metal bands had faded into dust (NAGELFAR, LUNAR AURORA) and only very rarely their musical legacy can be "touched" by the next generation of bands. HELFAHRT are one of these bands and with their second release "Wiedergang" they are in the position to close some gaps between old and new. The band toured intensively with HELHEIM and without stealing them their musical identity, which is the most important fact for any band in the overflowing Metal business anno 2008, the great old HELHEIM beast is occasionally shining through. The band plays intensive Black / Pagan Metal but there is no sunshine in the HELFAHRT cosmos, no beer tunes, no sing along jumping tales just the traditional icy face of the first generation of the Pagan Metal cult. The band plays on a very skilled level and the sound of this album can really compete with the big studio productions, furthermore is the cover artwork like a window to HELFAHRT's 10 songs creation. Think that in every review for this release HELRUNAR must / will be mentioned because both bands are creating this special kind of Pagan Metal feeling but I saw too much average albums during the last 6 months that I will not complain about 2 great German bands which are not matching but setting musical standards. Honestly speaking this release will darken the sun, so don't get lost in the woods! www.trollzorn.de, www.helfahrt.com
