This might be the darkest, most oppressive piece of Death Metal barbarity to be unleashed upon this world in 2014! “Svn Eater” is probably not easily digestible for everyone, but from its maelstrom of pitch black lava there shall be no escape, no return to the hordes of irrelevant, uninspired bands in this genre. Listen to this and disband, hobby acts! This is just too f**king good. Abysmal, gloriously evil, blessed with an almost cinematic grandeur, a sound that is as wide as it is crushingly heavy, commanding deep growls, tides of riffs and blasts that effortlessly shift from dissonant yet comprehensible passages to sheer brain-melting heavy f**kingness, on my personal arrghhness-meter this is a straight 666 out of 10. While the Black Metal-ish whispered snarls could have been reduced due to the perfect triumphant roars, they certainly increase dynamics successfully. Overall, this is a future classic with its combination of traditional influences from INCANTATION, MORBID ANGEL, VITAL REMAINS and the chaotic elements of PORTAL, MITOCHONDRION while avoiding turning into an inaccessible wall of noise by keeping the songs concisely structured and compact in length. Bottom line is: “Svn Eater” is right up there among the finest UK purveyors of pure unholiness GRAVE MIASMA and CRUCIAMENTM and on an international scale deserves to be named alongside the best Death Metal releases verging on the border to Black Metal.
