NIGHTBRINGER
NIGHTBRINGER
Apocalypse Sun
(Avantgarde Music)
66:31min

I'm for sure not the biggest fan of American extreme Metal - except the handful of ABSU offerings - but with NIGHTBRINGER a real black entity is creeping over the Atlantic Ocean. The latest newcomer of the Avantgarde Music family - a label which still deserves their true underground reputation - is presenting with "Apocalypse Sun" their second release (after over ten years of underground work) and with this release the band will impress a lot of people. It's quite difficult to compare the NIGHTBRINGER sound with any other band, the release is offering a compact kind of high speed Black Metal with layers over layers of pure black energy - you can nearly feel the blackness crawling out of your computer. But even on this breathless high speed level the music is incorporating a kind of majestic epic that even after listening to this music for so many years I'm remaining nearly speechless. The album had been released early this year and it took quite a while to find the right key due to the extreme complexity of certain tracks but "Apocalypse Sun" is offering so many great parts and songs that this time I will not moan about the glorious times of Black Metal but point out that this release is like a small remaining fragment of these days. "Apocalypse Sun" is one of the releases which will be definitely found on my personal top ten of 2010 so buy your ticket to the occult world of these American Black Metal followers.
