RAVENSIRE from Portugal was formed in 2011 and after releasing the EP "Iron Will" in 2012 they now march forward with their debut full-length album. This limited cassette edition released by Caverna Abismal Records once again sets the quality bar high, really nice and detailed foldout cover, inlay lyric sheet, white tape and of course most importantly - raw heavy crushing Metal! The band sites many classic Heavy Metal bands amongst their influences with all the biggest names included and many others, so it's obvious that main songwriter - guitarist Nuno knows his music down to detail. You can tell this even after the first listen - great riffs are just pouring down, the mid-tempo galloping rhythms build up a solid backbone and the vocalist / bassist Rick delivers the stories about soothsayers, ancient legends, warriors and bravery in a convincing, mid-range sounding manner. There are 10 songs on this album (including the short opener 'Dark Abyss') and all of them follow similar arrangements creating a strong body of work, there's no obvious 'hits' and then the rest is the filler. Still I personally can mention tracks like 'Gates Of Illon', 'Drawing The Sword', 'Iron Pits' and 'Warriors To The Slaughter' as my favourites and sticking in mind for a long time. So if you consider yourself a die hard old school Heavy Metal fan, especially on the mid-tempo, bombastic side, you must seek out this album.
