RUINS
RUINS
Front The Final Foes
(Debemur Morti Productions)
44:42min

Recently Mr. BEHERIT stated in an interview that he has lost contact to the current Black Metal scene - a development which is more or less typical for nearly all first generation musicians - but this band from Australian / Tasmania is the exception to the rule. So let's start with the obvious facts - RUINS was founded in 2004 and they've chosen the right MySpace account for their music because their third release "Front The Final Foes" fully deserves the title Black Metal. Their former release "Cauldron" was re-released by Debemur Morti earlier this year and even if the Australian scene has seen - within this unholy year - a lot of shadows and only a minor amount of light is this attack from Down Under a fully armed warhead. In some way the band reminds me of the German elite Black Metal combo SECRETS OF THE MOON mainly due to the fact that their music is extremely compact but nevertheless offers a slightly modern approach. Especially songs like 'Annihilate' or 'The Sum Of Your Loss' show the true essences of Black Metal but without to the possibility to categories RUINS into the Swedish and / or Norwegian style - their style is in some way different. "Front The Final Foes" is a release with edges and need several trips to hell to fully capture the given musical class. www.myspace.com/ruinsblackmetal, www.ruinsband.com, www.debemur-morti.com
