ZEALOT CULT
ZEALOT CULT
Karmenian Crypt
(self-financed)
17:37min

ZEALOT CULT from Limerick / Ireland released a self-titled demo in 2010 which already was a decent first sign of life. So I knew that this band is rather promising but I really did not expect such a huge step forward. The "Karmenian Crypt" is their second release and it is a killer EP. This is amazing early nineties US style Death Metal in the vein of bands such as BRUTALITY, MONSTROSITY, DEATH, PESTILENCE and the likes. “Karmenian Crypt” is a damned fine piece of powerful and massive Death Metal and all lovers of old fashioned (in the most positive meaning of the word) Death Metal should check it out. The EP contains three well executed and excellent arranged songs with an ass kicking production and an awesome and powerful vocalist who sounds like the long lost brother of Martin van Drunen and Chuck Schuldiner. He also added some clean vocals to the last track 'Suffocation Of The Mind'. I’m rigorously not a fan of Death Metal with clean vocals… I totally hate that… normally… BUT, I have to admit that the way ZEALOT CULT uses those melancholic clean vocals in 'Suffocation Of The Mind' does not hurt me. Honestly spoken, it sounds pretty cool. Hahahaha, maybe I’m getting old. The two other compositions 'Karmenian Crypt' and 'Eternal Winter' only have pure and sinister Death Metal vocals. Anyway, as aforementioned this is a killer EP and so you should get your copy soon before it’s too late. Highly recommended! By the way, BLOOD HARVEST will release the vinyl version end of October.
