EVIL`S BEST
EVIL`S BEST
Issue # 3
(100 pages, A5, xeroxed, in English)

This fanzine from Israel perfectly proves that you don't need a professional layout, high glossy paper or a full colored cover to deliver interesting content. EVIL'S BEST started out in late 2008, but back then it was still written in Hebrew, so I don't think that you really need to get a copy of it (unless you're able to understand the language). Editor Sergei, who also runs the small Israhellbanger label / distro, quickly changed to the English language with issue # 2, and that was the right move for sure... It got released in January 2009 and partly featured translated content from issue # 1... and if you're a fan of old school Black / Death / Thrash Metal the content is just great! Apart from several reviews you've got great interviews with DEAD TO THIS WORLD, SUPERCHRIST, APOKALYPTIC RAIDS, TANGORODRIM, GEHENNAH, HOD, SACRIFICIAL BLOOD, GOLGOLOT, THRASH STORM, STRIDENT, RECRUCIFY, MORBID TENDENCY, CRUSHING JACKHAMMER and a never published before interview with ANCIENT RITES, originally from 2001. The layout is simple, but it never looks boring and the overall quality is quite impressive (considering that it was xeroxed and not printed). In November 2009 issue # 3 ("The third of the storms") was released and it continues on where issue # 2 left off. This time there's interviews with DARKTHRONE, DAWN OF WOLVES, BLOODSOUL, BEERAGE, HIGH SPIRITS, INFERNAL ASSAULT, WARHAMMER, NOCTURNAL, FRONT BEAST, CHILDREN OF TECHNOLOGY, FUNEBRARUM, ABAZAGORATH, HERETIC, IRON KOBRA, RIOTOR, DEATH INVOKER and ATOMIC AGGRESSOR as well as way more reviews than in the previous issue. Unfortunately the layout is a step back again... Due to the fact that the used artwork and / or bandlogos in the interviews were mostly used in the background (and also in a very bright way) it's not only a bit difficult to find out where an interview starts and ends, it also looks a bit boring that way (# 2 was a whole lot better in that department). But when it comes to the information that this A5 size zine has on offer, it is still way better than a lot of the more established zines (to get an idea just check out the WARHAMMER interview on our site, which was taken from issue # 3). It sells for 5 Euro / 7$ (postage paid worldwide) and as far as I know issue # 2 is also available again, so feel free to contact Sergei for more details at werewolf12345666@gmail.com or check out www.israhellbanger.com
