Satanic Violence
(Fallen Temple)
40:28min
The Polish duo प्रलय (Hindi word for “Destruction”) has three releases so far in their career: “Reborn Of Terror” Promo 2023 and two EPs, “Fallen Temples” and “Satanic Violence”, both released in 2024. The latter two have been compiled in a single CD version and released by (the also Polish) label Fallen Temple. Six songs clocking at 40 minutes, including a cover of DEMONCY’s ‘Dawn Of Eternal Damnation’. Drummer Thisworld Outof and guitarist / bassist / vocalist Demoniac know their trade. They have the ability to come up with songs that wander into different stages, being (mostly) fast and heavy with darker passages. I think the use of contrast is the key here. Some bands create a trance-like experience from repetition, which is fine, but can become tedious quickly. There’s enough variation in प्रलय’s writing and structuring to keep things interesting. The riffs have a certain ritualistic feel, followed by a surprisingly tight rhythm section, uniform and effective. The vocals are perfect for this type of blackened Death Metal: a hellish death grunt instead of the high pitched shrieks. I dare say these two sessions were really close to one another since the production is similar between both releases: a combination of raw and heavy sounds with a well balanced mix that is very organic and rich in depth. There is also a wicked, cavernous overall tone that expands the reach of the atmosphere that प्रलय creates. The mastering is a bit crushed, but I guess it is almost logical given the aural savagery of the songs. This subgenre of music has seen a sudden revival in the last decade or so and I think it is difficult for bands to build their own identity. प्रलय proves that they are developing by using a different approach which eventually will lead to a more distinguishable sound. All in all, there is never a boring moment on these recordings. Both “Satanic Violence” and “Fallen Temples” are immensely fast, heavy and dense Black / Death Metal. Any fan of extreme Metal should check this one out ASAP. Show he band some support at https://desecrationcommand.bandcamp.com and contact the label at www.facebook.com/fallentemple666
