MOTÖRHEAD
Hammered

As already Beavis & Butthead constantly pointed out: Lemmy rules. There isn’t much to add except for: so do Mickey Dee and Phil Campbell! Their latest output is called “Hammered” but it doesn’t quite satisfy the expectations a Voices reader might have when hearing the title as this new CD sounds less aggressive than “Snakebite Love”, for example. Instead, the record is much cooler, more relaxed and melodic. Some riffs even remind me of the good old days, like “Ace Of Spades” and “Overkill”. On the other hand, MOTÖRHEAD have developed over the years: they’re better musicians (okay, only Mr. Kilmister is left from the founding days) and I dare say: they’re better song writers as well. Still, progression for this band always remains within the boundaries of what MOTÖRHEAD have always been standing for. This time what you get is a thrilling piece of Rock’n’Roll as well as yet another proof that Lemmy wrote more than one song in his life and still does so. Combined with thoughtful lyrics like “(you) don’t understand your children so you send them all to jail” (from: ‘Brave New World’) it’s a pleasure to have them back once again. Don’t miss the shows!
