Whether it was due to the powerful production and the mighty sound or simply the biblical age of my equipment, but after the first run of ”Ordo Diabolicum” my speakers called the quits. ARAN ANGMAR is a multi-national band and their style can be described as melodic Black / Death Metal with Folk elements. Furthermore the eight tracks cover styles like raw Black Metal and even Epic Metal. Quite a lot for forty minutes, but most of the time this wild mix of styles works quite well. The Folk component is represented by clear singing reminiscent of shamanic tribal songs, definitely not my taste. But objectively I have to admit that this ingredient, together with the female vocals, is perfectly embedded within the Black Metal foundation. Same goes for the more epic and melodic parts, which makes “Ordo Diabolicum” one of the most unique Black Metal albums I have heard in recent years. ARAN ANGMAR has been around for five years and has already released two albums; it is clear that no newbies are at work.
