BLOOD DIVISION
Traitors To The Gallows

Singaporean trio BLOOD DIVISION just released their latest album, "Traitors To The Gallows" via Cyclopean Eye Productions. 8 songs clocking at 21 minutes. And all I can say is that this one took me by surprise. As soon as I started listening to it, I was hooked. 21 minutes came and went and all of a sudden, it was over. So my main complaint here is: why so short? It’s simply amazing. A perfect blend of Black Metal, Crust and Punk. The production is raw and in your face, just like any other Crust album. The Black Metal oriented vocals and the Punk guitar riffs take this to another level. It instantly reminded me of DOOM, FINAL CONFLICT and DISCHARGE. But bringing in influences from VENOM, old IMPALED NAZARENE and maybe some old BELIAL. The mix is decent although the thick as a brick guitar tone (with a lot of help from the pounding bass) dominates over everything else. The drums are a little bright for my taste, but they add a lot of that E.N.T. vibe to the sound. The songs all have a similar structure, with some exceptions as in ‘Strangehold’ and ‘Shadow Empires’ (which became my fave song off this album instantly). But the main thing here is how good the album flows. The aggression, the attitude, the conviction… It’s all here. These 3 guys have crafted a solid album for fans of these sub genres, although any Metal fan will find BLOOD DIVISION’s style to be appealing. A lot. And to top it off, "Traitors To The Gallows" also includes a cover version of DISCHARGE’s ‘Cries Of Help’. You need to listen to this album now! Support the band here: www.facebook.com/blooddivision.
