DARK FUNERAL
Attera Totus Sanctus

"…here comes another one!" as sung by KING DIAMOND in one of the songs on "The Spider’s Lullabye". Century Media recently reissued the DARK FUNERAL back catalogue, so we are also getting a new version of their fourth studio album, originally released in 2005. It wasn’t a good time for the band as they were facing a bunch of legal problems and went through several line-up changes back then, but it didn’t stop them: "Attera Totus Sanctus" is full of high speed venom spitting songs, and even if maybe they’re not so good as on the first two albums, it’s still the DARK FUNERAL we know and like. It doesn’t make much sense to write about the music, as probably all fans of these Swedish Black Metal titans already have this album, it’s already 8 years old, and we are rather waiting for their new album they recently announced. This re-release should be interesting for younger fans of the band, and those who would like to have the two Japanese bonus tracks: an instrumental version of the epic anthem ‘Atrum Regina’ and a new version of ‘Open The Gates’. It’s just hard to understand the intention of using so many live tracks – in case of this release, we receive 6 live tracks. Wouldn’t be it better to release it as double CD with a live album on bonus disc, or even do a completely separate live album? Anyway, the reissue is packed with a fat booklet with liner notes and photos, and it is available as a regular CD, and limited edition golden vinyl or black vinyl, which you can order from www.cmdistro.com only.
