Belgium’s DAWN OF CRUCIFIXION mixes old (German) Thrash with Black Metal. Mainly driven on headbanging speed with cool riffing and occasional blastbeats. Kind of the same direction as OBEISANCE and in lesser extent NOCTURNAL GRAVES. DAWN OF CRUCIFIXION sounds less twisted than the Mexican sickos. Formed in 2008, these guys are far from fresh and already smell rotten. Bassplayer and backing vocalist Lord Sabathan should be familiar to all Black Metal fans from his former band ENTHRONED and as soon as the opener ‘Dawn Of Crucifixion’ sets in, you’ll hear that these guys (S. Razorcunt on guitars, J. Christgunner on drums and vocalist V. Viriakn) are experienced and superb musicians. Some nice tracks are ‘Dawn Of Crucifixion’ and ‘Beer, Tits, Cunt For Satan’. Last one reminded me of VENOM and SODOM. So DAWN OF CRUCIFIXION pays tribute to their roots and these tunes (unintendently?) form a perfect soundtrack for a drinking session. In that perspective it’s a great, powerful demo with cool coverart. If you’re a fan of mentioned bands or hate all these ‘hot’ acts of today, I recommend you this one.
