DER GEWELT
Human Breed

Holy shit – what kind of stupid bandname is this? DER GEWELT certainly does make no sense at all to everyone who’s able to understand the German language, does it? This three-piece from Moscow, Russia probably intended to go for DIE GEWALT (which translated means: the violence), but obviously didn’t really spent enough time on their homework… Oh well, they luckily didn’t come up with any German written lyrics (all of the six tunes are in English). But anyway – DER GEWELT features members from ROSSAMAHAAR and "Human Breed" is their follow-up to the band’s highly acclaimed split CD with NARGATHROND, which came out on More Hate Productions back in 2002. Musically the band seems to draws their main inspiration from the heydays of the norse Black Metal scene, but incorporates a lot more catchy melodies in the guitar department. Sometimes they remind me on a more mainstream version of THORNS for that matter, but not as unique in their writing though. All of the tracks are very simple structured and blessed with a crunchy, clear and rather transparent production, while the vocals are raw and grimly performed and never of the shrieky type. Nothing I would personally completely freak out on, nor groundbreaking in any way, but still quite solid and overall well done. All further info at: www.rageofachilles.com
