Live Til Death

This is kinda unusual yet exceptional from any new band to do: to release a live album without even having any full-length albums recorded before that. From Melbourne, Australia comes this 4-piece Thrash Metal act called DESECRATOR that has exactly done so; released a live album, having only recorded one 5-track EP in 2010 prior to this. This 8-track live recording in question titled "Live Til Death", has been recorded at Melbourne’s famous The Arthouse venue – and mixed by Harris Johns (the guy behind the production of such bands as KREATOR, SODOM, CORONER, etc.), is actually a very decent sounding effort from these Aussie Thrashers, in which it’s proved clearly how talented musicians there is in the DESECRATOR camp. The guys’ playing is tight, all instruments have and equal position in the live sound – and first and foremost, DESECRATOR’s heavily Bay Area tinged Thrash Metal gets stuck to us like a sticky gum in our butts. They remind me of early days METALLICA, TESTAMENT and even SLAYER, so in that sense we can talk about a pretty high entertaining level regarding them indeed. The guys truly thrash their hearts out in a fine way on this live recording of theirs, which also works as their own statement against today’s over-produced Metal albums. Thrash was meant to sound raw, loud and honest – and this is exactly also what you are about to get from DESECRATOR’s "Live Til Death": Raw, heavy and uncompromising Thrash Metal without any frustrating gimmicks – and I love it.
