GODLESS NORTH
Summon The Age Of Supremacy

From mighty Canada hails GODLESS NORTH with their latest effort “Summon The Age Of Supremacy”, offering us nothing but true northern Black Metal in the veins of the early 90s. Nothing special? Well, when I first put in this album, I really thought that it was nothing special, and I still think that this album does not offer a very good or at least thrilling beginning: a nice intro plus two, in my opinion too ordinary, tracks. But somehow everything changes with track four: ‘Under The Veil Of Night’. The songs become more varied – especially in speed -, the sound becomes better (which is a consequence of different recording sessions anyway) and these songs finally manage to create the atmosphere the bands wanted to express: utter grimness und hate! I saw GODLESS NORTH during last year’s “North American Black Metal Invasion Pt. I” – tour with KRIEG, INQUISITION and SECRETS OF THE MOON, and I thought they were (with the exception of SECRETS…, of course) the best band, thus I was a bit disappointed with the beginning of the CD, but all in all, I have to say that this is a good, but somehow typical old-school Black Metal-album. If you check out the album, every song from track four onwards is recommended. Worthy. www.breathofnight.com
