Hailing from Buffalo, NY, this 5-piece death squad truly impressed the hell out of me by their 2nd 5-track self-titled demo recording. GRAVE DESCENT, that was formed in February 1999 by vocalist Dennis John Glinski (ex – TIRANT SIN, ex – CARNAL DISSECTION – among others), has gone a relatively long way since then – some line-up changes occurring down the line while motivated and proper enough members were in search to complete the line-up of the band. If GRAVE DESCENT’s debut 3-track 2010 demo, titled "The Resurrection", quite did not represent how the guys wanted to get their hungry and vicious beast GRAVE DESCENT to be revealed to the whole world, things got somewhat drastically better in August 2010 when the band recruited Jack Owens (CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE) for the 2nd guitar (who was again replaced by Adam Zebrowski later on due to Jack’s decision to move back to Florida, and concentrate full time on DEICIDE). What the band’s still hot enough 2nd 5-track offering spits out, it spits out beautifully venomous and technical old school-ish Death Metal that harks back to the times when such US death dealers as SUFFOCATION and DEICIDE especially, recorded their debut albums. GRAVE DESCENT has much of the same in their sound like DEICIDE and SUFFOCATION used to have on their earlier records, but I still wouldn’t see them any straight copycat band of either of these 2 aforementioned bands. The influences are definitely there – yes, but then again, who wouldn’t remind slightly of some of those millions other bands around these days? GRAVE DESCENT’s Death Metal kicks in with an enormous power; truly proving to have enough potentiality to become one of the most noteworthy new Death Metal groups on the globe. The musicianship inside the band it simply tight and amazing – and I would be telling lies to you if I told you all the 5 songs on the band’s 2nd demo recording wouldn’t smoke, I mean – big time. GRAVE DESCENT’s Death Metal is just pummeling, reeking of sheer quality – and once and for all, a true determination to blow everyone’s socks off the way no other new Death Metal band has done to me for a relatively long time. Therefore don’t miss to check ’em out. GRAVE DESCENT don’t only kill you once, but twice. More info here: www.gravedescent.com
