GRAVEYARD WINDS
Assault To The Coffin

Graveyard? Coffin? If someone suspects Death Metal, then this assumption is correct. GRAVEYARD WINDS from Colombia are presenting their first official release in form of a four track EP. The opener ‘The Fetid Wave’ makes clear where the journey is heading. Mid-tempo based Death Metal with melodic guitar leads and interspersed up-tempo parts. Well, that is what like a bazillion other bands are playing, but there are some aspects that make the band stand out from the crowd. There are the partly really damn melodic, but nevertheless genuine Death Metal riffs and melodies, which form a wonderful contrast to the deep guttural, but however pronounced vocals. If you take a listen to the songwriting, it is obvious that the band manages the change between the different tempos damn well. There is no dull banging here, instead really good songs. The sound is powerful and clear, unimaginable if these good songs would disappear in a muddy production. In a nutshell: all conditions for a good twenty minutes of listening pleasure are more than fulfilled, making “Assault To The Coffin” more than a filler to bridge the waiting time for the next ASPYHX album.
