GRIDLOCK is another brutal quartet from the land of the rising sun. These Japanese masters of brutality cruising in the waters of brutal Death / Grind and following the path of many of their ancestors. This short four tracker is their first demo output and it delivers a straight forward, fast and relentless sonic assault with some midtempo slow downs to take a new breath. The vocals are performed in the dual style combining growls and insane screams. Sure if you judge them strict these maniacs are not a new sensation as they don’t invent the genre new, aren’t innovative and are just one of numerous bands around the world in this genre… mediocre. But I can’t help I find them somehow cool as the songs have a nice powerful production and are straight in your face. And that’s necessary more and more nowadays in order to forget all the shit that happens on this rotten planet (at least in my opinion). So if you like to check out underground stuff and you enjoy music the brutal way (or you collect and want to discover new bands in this genre) then you should give them a listen.
