MISSA MORTVM
Et Lux Perpetua Luceat Eis...

Out of nowhere MISSA MORTVM released a brilliant Black Metal album. The band from Chile was founded in 2011 and they have not released any outputs prior to "Et Lux Perpetua Luceat Eis…". The atmosphere of the five songs is raw and eerie (some may call it occult), reminding me of what Black Metal once was intended to be. A highlight are the versatile vocals, ranging from gnarling and growls over screams to chanting. The tempo is varied very often, the rhythm changes are happening very nonchalant. Difficult to describe, but you simply get the feeling that there must be a tempo change right now and then it happens. Once gain supreme songwriting wins the game. Regarding the sound the band tries to evoke the old school feeling without sounding like a feeble rehearsal room recording. This difficult task is solved to my utmost satisfaction. Many influences can be heard on the guitar work, but two countries are prevailing: Norway and Germany. Notorious bands like EMPEROR and SATYRICON but also dominant traces of LUNAR AURORA, DRAUTRAN and NAGELFAR.
