TEARABYTE
Gloom Factory
(Screaming Ferret Wreckords)
72:34min

Contemporary Thrash Metal from the US offer TEARABYTE on their third album “Gloom Factory”. Detuned guitars, aggressive clean Thrash vocals, mostly midpaced song material with a few faster outbreaks and massive riffs dominate this CD, which should appeal to fans of later SACRED REICH, SKINLAB, TESTAMENT. A merging of modern grooves with the rough drive and vocal style the Bay Area Thrashers made popular back in the good ol’ thrashing 80s characterizes this CD best and though not outstanding it undoubtedly has its moments. The whole thing is nicely produced, does not sound as sterile as most newer releases and though I’d prefer more speedy tracks like ‘Romper Stomper’ or ‘Empowered Hate’ TEARABYTE are quite cool and especially the vocalist’s “drunk Chuck Billy meets Zetro Souza”-like yelling has something pretty unique. Visit www.tearabyte.com and give this band a serious chance! And by the way, the CD’s length comes due to a vast amount of bonus material like some Christmas songs, a Country song and a Live show… so no shitty hidden track there.
