This new band consists of well known musicians, namely Dave Ellefson (MEGADETH), Stet Howland (W.A.S.P) and the incorporator, guitarist Pete Scheithauer (BELLADONNA and KILLING MACHINE), just the vocalist Todd Barnes is unknown to me. But to make it short, gathering good musicians in a new band not necessarily effects a good album. The music can be described as some kind of modern Thrash Metal or Metalcore, but it is just boring, lame and uninspiring. There are at least two or three good songs on that album, but as a newcomer you should present more than this. The production is mediocre, I personally do not care about that fact, but according to guitarist P. Scheithauer they wanted “[…] to create a new sound” and they clearly failed on that effort. The vocalist is not able to place his own trademark on the songs, the song writing is just Thrash Metal riffs based on rhythms that are well known from hardcore bands, nothing new, performed by bands like PANTERA or CALIBAN before. Once again the guitarist: “Our vision is simple. Be brutal, no compromise, Metal all the way.” Well, brutality means more than just stringing unexciting riffs in an uninspiring way together. And sometimes it is better to compromise in effort to create exquisite Metal. www.templeofbrutality.com
