Decoding The Past

Supposedly this Slovenian Thrash Metal act named THRAW has decided since day one it’s gonna be the old school of Thrash Metal – or no school at all. THRAW have been around since 2006, and have recorded a handful of demos (the band’s 1st three demos were released on a demo compilation CD titled "3D Bondage" on the small and already disbanded Slovenian Haliaetum Records back in 2010, in case you need this info for yourself). "Decoding The Past" is THRAW’s ‘virginity breaker’ in the department of debut albums – and it’s a decent tour de force from them actually, showing THRAW’s Thrash muscle fully pumped up. THRAW have chosen the kind of road for themselves to walk through, in which the musical paths of such other known Thrash Metal acts as DARK ANGEL (the Ron Rinehart era in particular), FORBIDDEN and EXODUS tend to cross in some peculiar way, one time after another. It needs to be pointed out though that THRAW don’t really ape or sound any of those 3 aforementioned acts but it’s no denying either that the influences are definitely there. These Slovenian Thrashers are driven by all things old school Thrash – and they must feel very secure and happy about that, too. "Decoding The Past" is full of blistering walls of riffs, speed, ripping solos and the band’s technical skills to build up some nice and catchy song structures that even stand out on their own, cannot be ignored either. THRAW offer a real deal of old school reeking Thrash on their debut – and I guess we all need to remember also this is just the beginning for them.
