Fans of ORIGIN, SUFFOCATION, "Obscura" – era GORGUTS, later CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL and VEHEMENCE, brace yourselves. TIMOR are all of these, but with a slightly unfortunate amount of AT THE GATES. In fact, the AT THE GATES influence, at times, seems to completely overtake the others; the elements that do far more to recommend the album than the melody. When TIMOR aren’t busy imiting Tomas Lindberg, they almost sound like EUCHARIST did on "A Velvet Creation"; delicate and intricate needlework of melody. For the most part, TIMOR vary their songs between the brutal and melodic, making for a well performed, if unwisely eclectic record. Only fans with truly variant Heavy Metal tastes will appreciate this in its entirety, from start to finish. The rest of us will have to alternate between cringing and grinning; for truly these are the sons of patchwork songwriting. Its rather surprisng that this band should have attracted any label attention at all what with there being so many bands like them already, and the fact that the style they play is on the wane. www.myspace.com/timormetal, www.timor.ch
