The Polish band VELES COURT performs their mix of Pagan / Gothic Metal on this self-financed debut. With 8 tracks of which some are Polish and some in English it kind of drags on. This is a first acquaintance and I can’t give you much background info (my skills in the Polish language are still lacking, sorry). Except that the vocalist has a very throaty style of singing and the musicianship is decent. As well as the production. Pagan and Gothic aren’t styles I’m familiar with or attracted to and here’s where this review starts to stagnate. There is a certain darkness in the melodies, but in general this music comes as pretty soft and lacking the tension, catchiness and thrill to excite. To prevent from slating this album too much or more than necessary, I advice you to check this out when you’re into these genres.
