I know that cover-track albums are a love-it-or-hate-it type of thing and especially with the long announced SIX FEET UNDER “Graveyard Classics” record, I wasn’t really sure how much sense this output is gonna make. Then again the album is the band’s pretty honest tribute to their favorite old tracks and comes up with the following tracklisting: ‘Holocaust’ by SAVATAGE (solid), ‘TNT’ by AC/DC (probably the most remarkable version on here), ‘Sweet Leaf’ by BLACK SABBATH (Ozzy just misses…), ‘Piranha’ by EXODUS (again a song that stands and falls with the vocals… falls, that is!), ‘Son Of A Bitch’ by ACCEPT (solid), ‘Stepping Stone’ by the SEX PISTOLS, ‘Confused’ by ANGELWITCH (both OK), ‘California Über Alles’ by DEAD KENNEDYS (rather lame), ‘Smoke On The Water’ by DEEP PURPLE (well, it has been covered too often already but I guess this one is OK…), ‘Blackout’ by SCORPIONS (raw version featuring John Bush from ARMORED SAINT / ANTHRAX on guest vocals), ‘Purple Haze’ by JIMI HENDRIX (listenable…) and last but not least ‘In League With Satan’ by VENOM (several other bands like VOIVOD did this one much better before…). I suppose SFU maniacs are gonna love this and I have witnessed already several times that songs like ‘TNT’ really work in a Metal disco. Then again, for more “neutral” customers: please consider that all versions are in the typical catchy and technically simple SFU-Death Metal type of playing (you know, AC/DC’s winning formula of a maximum of 3 straight-forward riffs each song…) and also the recording quality is pretty rough and not really powerful if you ask me! Cool item only worth purchasing for people into SIX FEET UNDER…
