TOTAL ISOLATION

TOTAL ISOLATION is a band from British Columbia, Canada that plays raw, ferocious, gut wrenching Death Metal with no remorse. “Winfield” is their first ever release, a demo from 2019. TOTAL ISOLATION keeps it simple, they look east to Finland and Sweden for the blueprint of their approach. The muffled riffs and bass just meander as electrical impulses through the atmosphere. Although, there’s a Punk’ish approach to drumming now and then, the band rests easy at the highway of the genre. The demo opens with ‘Absolute Purgatory’ and immediately you hear wealing guitars gently cutting through the tension, the drumming picks up the pace and gives strength to the monster. TOTAL ISOLATION builds a sinister wave of bare bone attack and marches steadily through. This is the perfect representation of things to come, an absolute feral instrumental that simply drives home the point. We move to ‘Hammer Of Depression’ and hear the vocals for the first time, like a transfixed gaze into the abyss, they simply add more heft to the barbarous depth of the sound. I do not know the history of this band but TOTAL ISOLATION sounds like they’ve been around since the 90s, plotting and designing their formal entry into the dark. The next track ‘Kennel Cough’ immediately embraces a Punk’ish outlook and still manages to fit into the overall scheme of the sound. This band needs some attention and I’m positive they will open their window to the world outside, but for now we are left with an absolute banger of a slab focussing solely on worshipping the old school. This demo is available on their Bandcamp as a “Name Your Price” download, so please do the needful. The demo is just about 18 minutes and it is fantastic! Recommended!
