Extreme Metal has adopted many forms throughout the years. And many bands playing this music have gone on different paths, developing a large variety of styles. DESEKRYPTOR, formed in 2016 and hailing from Fort Wayne, Indiana (USA), is one of these bands that has chosen to follow their own path onto Death Metal. With their latest release, the “Sarcophagal Corridors” EP, Eric (guitars, bass) and Phil (drums, vocals) know exactly what they want and how to accomplish that sound. These four songs, clocking at 12 minutes, showcase that cavernous, dank and putrid style of Death Metal that oozes malicious vibes and creates an oppressive atmosphere yet sustaining a high level of aggression and speed that punishes the listener non stop. The constant variation between tempos combined with really dense moments keeps the listener interested and wondering what is to come next. The drums blast their way into the songs with a precise use of the double kicks and cymbals. The guitars constantly churn out heavy palm muted and sharp tremolo riffs mixed in with creepy harmonies. The bass provides the perfect foundation to the overall madness happening. Those deep gurgling yet really aggressive vocals bring forth aural hostility. Add a solid production, featuring a well balanced, organic (and dare I say dismal) mix that fits the music perfectly and you clearly have a winner here. These guys are not bringing anything new to the table. But they do it with conviction and enough strength to stand out from most of the other bands that have decided to go onto this path. I am already looking forward to their next release as I think DESEKRYPTOR is band to look out for in the near future. www.facebook.com/desekryptor, www.facebook.com/martyrdoomproductions
