CARNAL FORGE have undergone a slight line-up change. Guitarist Johan Magnusson is out of the band, resulting in bassist Petri Kuusisto switching over to guitars while Lars Lindén (ex-ROSICRUSIAN, SLAPDASH) fills in on bass duty. The band have finished recording their new album, "Please Die!", at Studio Underground. Song titles include: ‘Everything Dies’, ‘No Resurrection’, ‘A World All Soaked In Blood’, ‘Fuel For Fire’, ‘Welcome To Your Funeral’, ‘Please… Die! (Aren’t You Dead Yet)’, ‘A Higher Level Of Pain’, ‘Hand Of Doom’, ‘Becoming Dust’, ‘Butchered, Slaughtered, Strangled, Hanged’, ‘Totalitarian Torture’ and ‘Slaves’. The album will be released early next year and the band will tour Europe with MORTICIAN in support of its release.
According to Blabbermouth, VADER have parted ways with Shambo and are auditioning new bassists to replace him before they begin recording their new album, due out in May through Metal Blade. The band will enter the studio in February to work on their follow-up to "Reign Forever World". If all goes as planned the recording and mixing will be finished in April 2002. The new bassist will make his debut with Vader at the Thrash ‘Em All Festival in November.
THE CROWN have completed pre-production for their new album, "Crowned In Terror". The band are currently reviewing the tracks to see if there are ways to improve some songs or riffs, and will soon enter the studio to begin recording. The album will feature ‘0 songs including, ‘Drugged Unholy’, ‘Crowned In Terror’, ‘Under The Whip’ and ‘(I Am) Hell’. The band are aiming for an early 2002 release.
The official Chuck Schuldiner Tribute Festival takes place on October ‘4th at The Choice in Tilburg, Holland. Acts scheduled to perform include: GOD DETHRONED, GODDES OF DESIRE, OCCULT, CALLENISH CIRCLE, SEVERE TORTURE, THANATOS, MANGLED, SHADOWBREED, OUTBURST and FLESH MADE SIN. According to the KRISIUN website, the band will play four dates in Japan between October 5th and 9th. Support at the shows will come from various bands including RITUAL CARNAGE, BAKED BOMB, BASSAIUM, NECRONOMICOM and DEAD BY DAWN. While in the country, Krisiun will also take part in an autograph session at the Disc Union store in Tokyo. In other Krisiun news, Century Media has confirmed that the band will support NEVERMORE on their South American tour dates in Curitiba on October ‘8th, in Sao Paulo on October ‘9th and 20th and in Santiago, Chile on October 2’st.

DESTRUCTION‘s website posted a rather cryptic message recently regarding the fact that they "… won’t play anymore dates on the German Tattoo The Planet tour".
DIMMU BORGIR and Nuclear Blast are planning to release a limited edition live shaped CD. The disc will include five live songs recorded in Stuttgart on the "Puritanical" tour. The recording was mixed by Peter Tägtgren in Abyss studio. Nothing has been done with the sound quality so it will sound unpolished and like a kick in the face. The CD will only be available at mail order from Nuclear Blast and is expected to be released in December 200′ / January 2002.

ARCH ENEMY‘s Christopher Amott and Japan’s Caparison Guitars is designing a "Christopher Amott" signature guitar model. Says Christopher, "I have been playing these guitars since ‘997 and developed a great relationship with both the instruments and the people that make them! CENTINEX have finished the recording, mixing and mastering of their Candlelight Records debut "Diabolical Desolation". IN FLAMES will replace STATIC-X on the Tattoo The Planet tour. They will join the tour on October 2nd in Stockholm and on October 4th in Helsinki DESTRUCTION will replace PANTERA on all the German Tattoo The Planet dates. Also on the bill are SLAYER, CRADLE OF FILTH, BIOHAZARD and VISION OF DISORDER. The German dates run from September 22nd to October 6th. In addition, Destruction will play a headlining show on October 7th at The Big Island in Dortmund, Germany. France’s AD INFERNA are about to release their debut, L’empire des Sens. The album was produced in Holland’s Excess Studio. Vicomte Vampyr Arkames is now a fixed member of the band since leaving SETH. Arkames wrote all the lyrics.
Germany’s DIES ATER are writing new material in preparation to enter One Stage Studio next March to record a new album, which will be produced by Andy Claasen. The band plan to release an EP at the same time as the new album. The EP will include a re-recorded demo track and a new song, recorded in German. That same track will appear on the full-length in English.

BLACK ABYSS are writing material for a new album that has the working title, Angels Wear Black. The album will be produced by Dieter Roth (HAGGARD). The band are looking for a new guitarist and in the meantime their live shows will feature ex-GRAVEWORM axe Harald Klenk. The new album will be released next spring, followed by a tour with THE ARMADA.

EMPEROR have just finished shooting a video for the song ‘Empty’, off their forthcoming album, Prometheus: The Discipline Of Fire And Demise.
After their strong and powerful album "The Heresy Of An Age Of Reason" (released in 2000) Swedish Black Metallers THY PRIMORDIAL terminated the contract with Singapore’s Pulverized Records. A new contract with Blackend Records is already signed by now. Blackend are (hopefully) going to re-release the previous four albums of THY PRIMORDIAL. In the meantime THY PRIMORDIAL have recorded their fifth album that will see the light later this year. At the moment they are waiting for the cover-painting to arrive. Although the forthcoming album was recorded in The Abyss studio you do not need to be afraid to get a faceless production again. Judging the rough-mix it does not sound typically Abyss. Instead the sound will be very powerful, brutal and therefore fitting to the more technical and pretentious song-structures THY PRIMORDIAL come up with on their new album. It is quite obvious that they managed to increase their musical abilities once more. So, be prepared for the next storm coming.
KREATOR performed a free show in their hometown of Essen recently in front of 12,000 people. Meanwhile, the band are working on a video clip for the title track of their new album, Violent Revolution, due out on September 24th. The first pressing will be a strictly limited edition containing bonus tracks and unique packaging. Kreator will co-headline Europe this fall with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DESTRUCTION and SODOM.
SUSPERIA are currently on 11 new songs, 10 will be completed and recorded for the second album that will be recorded at Abyss Studios in late November. Pre-recording has already begun on SOILWORK‘s next album. Tracks to appear on the album include: ‘The Bringer’, ‘Blackstar Deceiver’, ‘As We Speak’, ‘No More Angels’ and ‘Follow The Hollow’. Devin Townsend and Fredrik Nordström will begin mixing in early December and the band hope to have the finished disc in time for Christmas, aiming for a March release.

CARNAL FORGE have scheduled a 25 date European tour in January with headliners MORTICIAN and two other acts.
DARK TRANQUILLITY will perform on October 6th at the Concert Hall in Istanbul, Turkey. There will also be a signing session on October 5th at 1pm in Köstebek Music, located in the Aznavur Pasaj. The band is currently busy in the rehearsal room writing new material and have booked Studio Fredman from February 6th to record their 6th, as yet untitled, full-length album.
Hiili Hiilesmaa will again produce the next SENTENCED album, which will be recorded in January at Tico-Tico Studio and Finnvox Studios. HOUWITSER have completed the recording of their new album, Rage Inside The Womb. The album will be released through Osmose in October or November. A full tour will follow. Also, the band have released a new 7" through Displeased Records. INHUME have signed a two album deal with Osmose. The band are writing for a new album that is to be recorded in late 2001/early 2002. A release is expected in April or May of 2002.
BELFEGOR release their second album, The Work Of Destruction, on October 15th through Empire Records in Poland. The album will include a video-clip for ‘Loneliness Amidst My Wrath’.

FINNTROLL have canceled their European tour with TRISTANIA, ROTTING CHRIST, VINTERSORG and MADDER MORTEM. The band’s mother label, Spinefarm, has issued this official statement, "Hell-O!!! It is with great sorrow and grief that we announce the unfortunate fact that Finntroll will not be able to join the planned European tour with Rotting Christ, Tristania, Madder Mortem and Vintersorg because Katla has lost his voice. The doctor very clearly stated that Katla is not allowed to sing at all for two months. It seems that Europe is spared. For now…"

Viccomte Arkames will leave SETH after the recording of their new album, Divine X. He is now a full time member of AD INFERNA and MORNING RISE.
Damon Bloodstorm is leaving ABOMINATOR, citing a permanent break from the hectic schedule of band life. The band is down to a two piece again and is currently looking for a bass player and possibly a second guitarist to continue their live assault. They have just completed their second album, Subversives For Lucifer, and are now writing material for their third album, which will be called Cascading Carnage.
IMPIETY will record their new assault at Stage One Studios in Germany with producer Andy Classen. Recording is scheduled to take place from October 17th to November 2nd. The album will include two bonus covers of tracks by BLASPHEMY and SEXTRASH, as well as seven originals.
BEWITCHED have a second guitarist, Hellfire. He was originally hired for the band’s Mexican tour, but is now a full-time member. The band will soon record a new album, Rise Of The Antichrist.

After a short run with the band, VITAL REMAINS bassist Kelly Conlon (DEATH, MONSTROSITY) has left to pursue other musical interests. Lead guitarist Ron Greene has taken over on bass for the time being.

DISMEMBER are currently rehearsing new material, although they had an unfortunate set back when they lost their long time rehearsal space. It’s most likely that Fred Estby will again produce the album at Das Boot studios. Early signs indicate more of a return to the old school sound of the Death Metal album.

The reformed EXODUS plan to write new material for an album to be released late in 2002 through Century Media.
Net sources say that reuited thrash legends EXODUS, VIO-LENCE and FORBIDDEN are considering a tour package dubbed the Bay Area Invasion. Blabbermouth says that the bill is presently being put together by Walter Morgan’s Deadly Embrace Productions (the people behind the Thrash Of The Titans benefit concert for TESTAMENT vocalist Chuck Billy. According to Morgan, several US and Japanese dates are being planned during the coming months, with the possibility that additional European gigs will take place at a later time.
Tracks set to appear on CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s upcoming studio release include: ‘Hatchet To The Head’, ‘Pit Of Zombies’ and ‘Worm Infested’.

According to Blabbermouth, Nuclear Blast will be releasing another live CD from DEATH, Live In Eindhoven, on October 29th. The disc will only be available through Nuclear Blast mail order. The album was recorded at the group’s Dynamo Festival appearance in ’98. The CD will sell for $7, and $2.50 of each CD will go directly to the Chuck Schuldiner Medical Fund. There will also be a DVD for $12 of the same show. Both the CD and DVD will only be available in slip-sleeves (no jewel cases).
HYPNOSIA‘s Cab made the following statement on the band’s upcoming album: "We are working on new material and hope to record the second full-length album in December of this year. We don’t have a title for the album yet, but some songs on the album are: ‘Defaced’, ‘Less Than Zero’, ‘Men Behind The Sun’, ‘Living Misery’, ‘Twisted Avocation’, ‘Embrionic Waste’ and ‘Rise Of Severity’.

IN AETERNUM have parted ways with drummer Jocke Olofsson and guitarist Paul Johansen. The split was amicable. Alongside founding member David Larsson (guitar/vocals), they now have Andreas Vaple on bass and Peter Andersson on drums.

The release of BLOOD RED THRONE‘s Monument Of Death album has been postponed due to problems with the extremely brutal artwork. The CD will now come inside a specially designed slipcase. Everything, including the poster design, is being re-tooled after having been rejected by several outlets overseas. A Scandanavian tour for the fall is being discussed that would include label-mates EXMORTEM and THRONEAEON.
THANATOS drummer Aad has left the band. He couldn’t commit to the band because of his work with SINISTER and HOUWITSER. He will be replaced by Yuri Rinkel (also in LIAR OF GOLGOTHA). The band will start writing new material for their upcoming fourth album which they plan to record around the end of 2001.
The UK’s THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL release their new album, The Excommunication Of Christ, on October 1st through Supernal Music. The band are described as Black Metal with Mediaeval and Middle Eastern influences. Guests on the album include A.C. MARDUK‘s World Funeral U.S. and European tours are about to commence. North America begins on October 4th in St. Louis, MO and runs Otil November 6th in Cleveland, OH. The European leg begins on November 11th in Thessaloniki, Greece and runs to December 22nd in Zwickau, Alarm, Germany.

Finland’s GLOOMY GRIM will release their new album, Written In Blood, on September 11th. Following the release the band will tour France with MISANTHORY and YEARNING from October 18th – 28th. ARCH ENEMY have canceled a number of live dates due to new vocalist Angela Gossow developing nodules on her vocals chords. She has been ordered by specialists not to sing at all for at least two months while she undergoes treatment

The split comes in a most friendly way and will not leave anyone disappointed. In the meanwhile, Scheitan will keep working on the forthcoming fourth album, Pentito. LOCKUP are scheduled to release their second album early in 2002. On this release Tomas Lindberg (THE CROWN, ex-AT THE GATES) will take over vocal duties from the departed Peter Tägtgren. The line-up also includes NAPALM DEATH’s Shane Embury (bass) and Jesse Pintado (guitar) as well as Nick Barker from DIMMU BORGIR on drums.
SOILWORK are currently in Sweden at Studio Fredman working on the follow up to A Predator’s Portrait. The album is being produced and mixed by Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD)

HOUWITSER are busy finishing their new album, Rage Inside The Womb, in Excess Studios. According to the WITCHERY website, www.witchery.org, the band’s new album, Symphony For The Devil, will be released on September 24th although the recent shake-ups at Necropolis Records may push the record back.
SOLEFALD have inked a deal with Century Media. The Norwegian band, formed by Cornelius Jakhelln (vocals, electric and bass guitar) and Lars Nedland (vocals, synthesizers and drums) is set to release their third album, Pills Against The Ageless Ills, in Europe on September 24th.
North American Black Metal, a European tour featuring GODLESS NORTH, KRIEG, INQUISITION and SECRETS OF THE MOON, kicks off on December 5th in Ypres, Belgium and wraps up on December 9th in Neumarkt, Germany.
AGATHODAIMON have completed the recording of the their new album, tentatively titled Chapter Three. It’s out in early 2002.

MACABRE have re-released their classic album "Gloom" with six additional live-songs from 1986. The sound is re-mastered and all the lyrics are included. "Grim Reality" might be re-released soon as well. Their new album "Murder Metal" is planned to be recorded early 2002. Future-plans also include a possible live-recording and the possibility of a Video / DVD.
CRUACHAN‘s newest album "Folk-Lore" will be released on January 21st 2001 and this album is a lot more metallic in sound, although the folk parts are still included. Meanwhile their debut "Tuatha Na Gael" from 1995 is ready for re-release on September 10th. This one is re-mastered and includes three bonus-songs from their Promo ’97 which almost lead to a deal with a German label.
REBAELLIUN is ready to blow up the world. "Annihilation" will be out on September 17.
BLOOD RED THRONE is releasing their "Monument Of Death" October 22nd and the title speaks for itself. Tchort (ex-Emperor, ex-Satyricon, still involved in Carpathian Forest and Green Carnation)’s new band will cause a lot of talk fore sure. The first 1.000 CD’s come in a suicide-kit, including printed razor-blades and will be handnumbered with real blood of the bandmembers (only being sold through the mailorders!).
AETERNUS has finally found the fitting artwork for their fourth full-length album "Ascention Of Terror". This album will continue their path to mix the typical AETERNUS-sound with Death Metal influences. Release in November.
SINISTER‘s "Creative Killings" will be out on November 19th.
MONSTROSITY will do a very cool release in between two studio-albums. On November 26th "Enslaving The Masses" will be released and it will be a double-disc. Disc one features their demos (with CorpseGrinder of Cannibal Corpse on vocals!), while disc two features an excellent live-set in their current line-up. Value for money, and 2002 will see their new album, the follow up to the brilliant "Dark Purity".
SATARIEL have finished the recordings of "Phobos & Deimos". The album will feature Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass/Memento Mori) on guest-vocals and was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (a.o. Darkane, Strapping Young Lad, Messuggah).
MORIFADE is currently recording their new album "Imaginarium" under supervision of Andy Laroque.
