‘Vile Evil Rotted Over’, the first new track in eight years from Spanish Death Metallers AVULSED, will be released on February 28, 2023, just to commemorate the first year since Verónica Váquez, the wife of vocalist Dave Rotten, passed away after two years of fighting cancer. The lyrics, as well as the detail on the cover, are a tribute to her. In the meantime AVULSED have almost completed eight new tracks for their next album, but ‘Vile Evil Rotted Over’ will possibly not be included. According to the band it was just recorded to let everyone know that AVULSED is back. In related news, the personal account of AVULSED’s bass player, who also handled the band’s official Facebook page, was hacked and therefore will never be updated again. Detroit, Michigan based melodic Power Thrashers AMONG THESE ASHES will release their new single ‘The Enemy In I’ on April 21, 2023 together with the SAVATAGE cover ‘Sirens’. The band commented on it as follows: “A year after releasing our debut album, “Dominion Enthroned”, we return with our newest track, ‘The Enemy In I’. This track lyrically chronicles the woes of self-destruction. We worship at the altar of those who paved this musical path for us, and in that spirit, we’ve included a cover of a SAVATAGE classic, ‘Sirens’, as a B-side track to this release. Both tracks display our signature attributes with pummeling aggression contrasted by thematic melodies and harmony. We cannot wait to bring these cacophonous offerings to the ravenous Metal hordes.” AMONG THESE ASHES have just released a lyric video for a reworked version of ‘A Veil Of Black’ (a track from “Dominion Enthroned”) at this location. It features Brooke Rousseau of LADY LUNA AND THE DEVIL on vocals with AMONG THESE ASHES lead vocalist, JP Abboud. The video was created by Ross Morgan.
