I just got the really sad news that our good friend Doug Grandon of New Jersey based technical Death Metallers MASS PSYCHOSIS has passed away yesterday. He was diagnosed with MSA-C a while ago, which is an incurable neurological disease, with symptoms similar to Parkinson, that is causing painful muscle spasms and tremors. He was already in a wheelchair for a while and has been in a nursing home since the summer of 2022. Longtime readers of our zine will certainly remember that we had a really strong connection with the band during our print era, which resulted in various bigger features. I spoke to Doug countless times on the phone back then and even helped out MASS PSYCHOSIS with the promotion of their “Face” compilation CD, which was released overhere via No Bull / Koch Records in 1995. We joked around a lot, talked about way more than just music and Doug even created and printed the first bunch of Voices From The Darkside shirts, which he sent over for free. Unfortunately we never got the chance to meet in person, but I will always remember him as a very kind and friendly guy, who really wanted to get to the next level with MASS PSYCHOSIS. Nashville, Tennessee based Death Metallers ACT OF IMPALEMENT have just premiered the track ‘Atomic Hecatomb’ at this location. It will be featured on the band’s sophomore full length “Infernal Ordinance”, which will be released on February 02, 2023 via Caligari Records on CD and cassette tape formats. It was mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios and the cover artwork was supplied by Diablo Macabre.
