Steven Willems (who’s also a contributor to Voices From The Darkside and Belgium’s Rock Tribune magazine) will release a book about the extreme Dutch Metal scene between 1985 and 1995 via Cult Never Dies. The book will be entitled STREAMS OF ANCIENT WISDOM: THE HISTORY OF DUTCH DEATH METAL and features more than 100 interviews with bands like ASPHYX, PESTILENCE, SINISTER, THANATOS, GOREFEST, SEMPITERNAL DEATHREIGN, DELIRIUM, PHLEBOTOMIZED, DEAD HEAD, ACROSTICHON, SILENXCE, MORTHRA, EXCISION, DEAD END, PENTACLE, CELESTIAL SEASON, INQUISITOR and many more. Steven also interviewed a lot of people who worked for magazines (Wim Baelus, Anthony van den Berg), record companies (Roadrunner, DSFA Records, Foundation 2000, Displeased Records), radio shows (Stampij, VARA’s Vuurwerk, Thrashing Madness), recording studios (Excess Studio, Beaufort Studio) and important venues. The book also tells the story of Aardschok, Dynamo Open Air, the rise of the first Dutch Speed / Thrash Metal bands and much more. Many foreign bands (PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, CARCASS, REVENANT, MESSIAH, IMMOLATION, VADER, ENSLAVED, MASTER etc.) also share their view on the Dutch scene and there will be tons of rare and previously unpublished photographs and artwork included.
