If the guys from DISMEMBER, way back in 1988, would have guessed just what type of an influence they would have on the Metal world and of all the progeny they spawned, what would they even think or how could they even grasp the effect their music has had on all of us? I for one count “Like An Everflowing Stream” as a must-have in my musical library. Also, they are still playing with the same members of that quintessential album. We all know of the many bands that take a cue from them and create something that is similar or the ones that take that sound and add a bit more to the mix to maybe put a bit of their own signature on things. And yes, those that are almost a copy. So when all is said and done and we have listeners hear the latest crop of bands bursting forth, we definitely know who and what they sound like. Good or bad. Now to that point of good or bad, I bring to you, dear readers, ABOMINATED. They are basically a modern-day DISMEMBER in almost every aspect, except for the more up-to-date, non – Sunlight Studio sound. The guitarists also have a more SLAYER – ish approach to the leads and harmonies. Also vocalist Greg has a bit less dynamic and maybe more angrier roar to his voice. Now I will leave it up to you all to make your own judgement, but in overall, I had fun with this release. At a tad under 30 minutes it is not going to take too much of your time. And it also has a fantastic Dan Seagrave cover art. He was / is an artistic inspiration for me even to this day. So listening to this a couple of times and letting it sink in, I can safely say they cross off all the mandatory bullet points.
