AD VITAM INFERNAL

The first thing I noticed was the cover art for this two-man project. I am that person almost since day one, gets drawn in by album art first. I present to you, dear readers AD VITAM INFERNAL. A project hailing from France. I, as an individual, am getting past my feelings on the programmed drum process used in music. It is a day-by-day recovery for me :). But I will admit, what is presented here, is not too bad in overall. I do not like the recording’s overly processed and plastic feel. The drums are just a bit too typical. They are just there, not imaginative or thoughtful. Again, programmed is the main word here. It’s not bad by any means, if you are not paying attention. Certain bands can give me that. In Death Metal I want a loud production and a real honest (messy?) experience. That to me is Metal. It is why I spoke of my ambivalence about solo projects in prior reviews. I feel something is lost in the A.I. approach to music. I am also an artist in my primary trade and I have some some harsh words about that approach in that medium as well. I will admit there is a sense of power and energy in the guitars and riffing, but the overall presentation is a bit too clinical and typical in many ways. I guess what I am trying to convey here is, where are you in your listening experience? Do you know KILLING ADDICTION, MERCILESS and BRUTALITY? Or are your reference points LAMB OF GOD, AS I LAY DYING and ABIGAIL WILLIAMS? I think your barometers in what Metal is to you, are what will help you decide on this particular platter. www.facebook.com/ad.vitam.infernal, www.facebook.com/doloremrecords
