From the murky depths of Argentina’s frozen Patagonia emerges BESTIAL PROFANATION with their second full-length offering, “Cadaveric Rebirth”. Following their 2022 effort “Sanctuary Of The Living Dead”, this quartet of Matías Carrasco (vocals, lead guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard), Fernando Garcia (rhythm guitar), Gabriel Ñancuche (bass) and Cristian Sarmiento (drums), kept their intent on delivering Death Metal that pays gruesome homage to the classic era, combining Swedish influences and Floridian madness. The opener, ‘Voices Of Necromancy’, suggests that style immediately, with a sudden flesh ripping rattle and dry vocal assault from Matías Carrasco, it quickly shifts the momentum into a furious number. It serves as an ideal soundtrack for envisioning steaming, crumbling corpses rising from musty graves. The guitar partnership between Carrasco and Fernando Garcia is undeniably solid, anchoring the record with mid tempo chugging menaces and rapid fire solos that recall the peak of OBITUARY and DEATH. Thematically, the record is a deep descent into Haitian voodoo, black magic and ’80s gore aesthetics. The synth laden instrumental ‘Revenant Torment’ evokes the chilling atmosphere of a necromantic ritual, while tracks like ‘After The Burial’ and ‘Eaten By The Worms’ utilize shifting tempos for a mesmeric effect. The slower passages bring a damp, mouldy atmosphere, where the guitars trudge with the crusty, doom laden weight of a long forgotten AUTOPSY shift. Recorded and mixed at Putrid Records by Carrasco himself, the production maintains an organic, filth ridden edge without succumbing to modern over polishing. The constant gear shifting through tracks like ‘Voodoo Intervention’ and ‘In The Tomb Of Rebirth’ provides a freshness and vigor that keeps the listener ensnared beyond the foggy gates of the secret crypt. By the time the closer ‘Condemned To Exist’ arrives, the sense of a true cadaveric rebirth is fully realized. Accentuating the horror is the striking artwork by Enzo Sciotti, providing a perfect visual manifestation of the band’s necromantic vision. If you prefer your Death Metal chunky, gore soaked and dripping with atmosphere, BESTIAL PROFANATION is a force to consider and surely deserve many following.
