CALAMITY
Imminent Disaster
(self-financed)

CALAMITY is a four-piece Thrash Metal band from Puerto Rico with two releases under their belts, both self-financed. Along with the "Let ‘Em Burn" EP, they recently released their debut album "Imminent Disaster". As soon as I heard the first few chords, I immediately assumed the guys were not big fans of the "And Justice For All" production style, so they did exactly the opposite from that classic (and infamous, production wise) record and increased the bass levels. The problem is the bass level is now so high that sometimes you can barely hear the guitars! Thrash Metal is full force guitars, right in your face, guys! This album clearly asked for a better production (which I hope it will see sometime in the future), because musically it’s a good effort and you can tell this is a group of four extremely talented musicians. Nearly forty minutes of good old school Thrash Metal divided into 10 tracks. ‘Facing Calamity’ is the track that should get you introduced to the band. The official video is now available on their facebook page (www.facebook.com/calamitypr). So, if you’re a fan of old school Thrash Metal (especially if you’re also a bass player or enthusiast), make sure you listen to this release and support the band, by buying their records and attending their gigs!
