Creatures II

A good Heavy Metal band suits my days so well. Because I am in that mode. Heavy Metal. And what better than these Brazilians from CREATURES. A band of good Heavy Metal with Hard Rock tinges. While their first album “Creatures”, from 2021, has more Hard Rock elements, here, on “Creatures II”, the sound tends to lean more towards the purely Heavy Metal spectrum. In any case, the stylistic difference is rather imperceptible unless one pays special attention to that detail. CREATURES is one of those bands that personally help me support my stance (increasingly acute) regarding the fact that not everything in Metal has been said and that the matter of “originality” is rather unrealistic. And I say this in the best sense, because although (like many other Heavy Metal bands and bands of other Metal subgenres), CREATURES presents itself as a band that could perfectly have emerged in 1985. Without any problem. If one has absolutely no data on this band and plays it for someone (blindly), that someone would say that this is a band from the ’80s. Well, then, that is for me, the confirmation that it is not true that everything has been said in Metal and that today one can make good Metal, sounding classic, but bringing fresh air to the battlefield. Anyway, “Creatures II” is fresh out of the oven via High Roller Records. An album of almost 57 minutes in duration that takes the mind to the confines of the best sound of traditional ’80s Heavy Metal (as I said before). There are no surprises with this band. There are no weird things. Only music that is made to make us feel the energy, the melody and the power of the genre that gave origin to everything there is in this universe. The album’s songs adhere perfectly to the guidelines and fulfill their purpose. There is virtuosity, an element I hate in other Metal subgenres, but which I consider vital in Heavy Metal. All CREATURES musicians show musical, compositional, technical and philosophical maturity, as the band maintains cohesion in its sound and in its theme. It is a consistent and effective band. I enjoyed this album a lot. I felt immersed in a time capsule where good music reigns and of which CREATURES is an active part.
