DEPRESY
A Grand Magnificience
(Slovak Metal Army)
50:28min

"A Grand Magnificience" saw its first light of day in 1998 on tape by Immortal Souls Productions while the CD version was handled by Shindy Productions. The CD included the "…And There Came The Tears With Christ" demo tape (first released in 1995) as bonus tracks in order to make it a full length (and value for money). I dare to say, in my humble opinion of course, that these tunes from both releases are true masterpieces of Slovakian, as well as European, melodic Death Metal. These Metalheads from Trencin, who teamed up in 1991, really created a remarkable output that hasn’t lost anything of its magic throughout the almost two decades of its initial release on CD format. May it be the riffs, the great melodies or the excellent (dark) atmosphere – everything fits just perfectly here and was blended in an outstanding way together. If this horde would have had its headquarters in Scandinavia they had become quite successful I guess. But somehow most bands from East European soil had always a little bit of problems to get recognized even though they didn’t lack any quality (some of them even were of higher quality than much acclaimed ‘cult’ acts from Northern Europe). Thus many great releases remained quite unnoticed and only fancier and pundits knew to appreciate the undeniabale class of those releases. That fact can also be applied as a blue print for DEPRESY as well. But now you have the chance to make it better than those Metal enthusiasts back then because Slovak Metal Army (which is the new label of former Immortal Souls Prod. owner Juraj) was so kind to make this gem available again with a slightly altered layout and cover. So if you are into melodic old school Death Metal with great musicianship then you should do yourself a favour and immediately get a copy of this brillant release. You won ‘t regret it.
