DESTROYING DIVINITY from the Czech Republic have released their fourth album entitled "Hollow Dominion" via Lavadome Productions. Modern brutal technical Death Metal is the topic here and these four guys really start this album with a punch in the face. The opening track ‘The Eternal Guardians’ offers all, what fans of the mentioned genre are searching for. Fast and precise riffing, brutal chords, technical and fast drumming with pounding double-bass in the back and a deep guttural voice. Early VADER, as well as IMMOLATION or mighty MORBID ANGEL seem to have been their early influences, as traces of all these masters can be heared in their sound. The songwriting is solid and their technical skills are above average. The songwriting is fine with proper ideas, but sometimes they seem to get thrown off the track a bit, as riffing repeats itself a bit and a good idea is repeated too often like in ‘Burning Divine Domination’. But then they restart with next track ‘Scent Of Death’ and show, that they can write proper and varying songs. Of course the closeness to their influences can be metioned as disadvantage, but as there are hardly any new inventions in the Death Metal genre apart from the now annoying core-genres, this album is a nice welcome for all brutal and technical Death Metal lunatics. And with 33 minutes running time, the album is a diverting short trip into this brutal genre. The full album is streaming on: https://destroyingdivinity.bandcamp.com.
