Again, a totally new name to me from a vast extreme Polish underground Metal scene: DEUS MORTEM. A 2-piece Black Metal band that was formed in 2008 by Inferno (BEHEMOTH, CHRIST AGONY, etc.) and Necrosodom (AZARATH, ANIMA DAMNATA, etc.). The guys’ first 2-song single, titled "Darknessence", is pure MARDUK worship. Fast, furious, gut-wrenching and Nordic sounding Black Metal is what this is all about, which I believe will appeal the big masses too – at least the ones who have fallen in love with a darker and more violent sounding world of Black Metal. A cover of SIGH’s ‘The Knell’ has also been raped so bad that it’s nearly unrecognizable as DEUS MORTEM’s own version. Is it a good or bad thing, well, you be the judge. Again, there’s simply anything in them that is neither new nor groundbreaking but the way these two lads have combined their ideas of all things sinister and terrorizing into this one all-mangling Black Metal assault, they have done it really well and somewhat impressive way even. Sure thing, their massive torches of doom are burning hot and pitch-black, and darkness gets even darker when DEUS MORTEM are let loose. But is it enough to satisfy our ever-growing hunger for bands like they are? Time will tell… Find more about them at: www.witchinghour.pl
